Decarboxylation?! marijuana recipe marijuana knowledge

What is Decarboxylation

Decarboxylation is absolutely essential to making potent cannabis oil. It effectively removes the COOH group from the THC-A molecule by releasing water and carbon dioxide, turning it into the psychoactive THC.

This release of water and carbon dioxide naturally occurs during the drying process and happens instantly when you burn one down or even happens haphazardly when we put the oil into things like Cannabanna bread and toss it into the oven.

But if you want a fully activated material to use in cannabis capsules, raw edibles, super medicinal tinctures, or activated topicals…decarboxylation will make all of your efforts worthwhile.

Decarbbing your Cannabis

  • Preheat oven to 240F
  • In a pyrex dish evenly spread out bud, trim, and or kief (Optional: cover with tinfoil)
  • Place pyrex into the oven and bake (30 minutes for kief and 60 minutes for bud and trim)
  • Remove and allow to cool completely
  • Use immediately or store in a mason jar in the freezer for future use.
