How to Make Cannabis Coconut Oil in a Crock Pot marijuana recipe marijuana consumption

Why use Coconut Oil?

Coconut oil is arguably the best oil for creating strong marijuana infusions, topicals and medicinal edibles because it has a high saturated fat content. That makes it capable of absorbing more THC, terpenes, flavinoids and cannabinoids than any other types of oil. Coconut oil is also about 90% saturated fat compared to butter that has 60% saturated fat.

What you’ll need:

  • Crock-pot
  • Decarboxylated Marijuana
  • 2 Cups Coconut Oil
  • Ladle and Spatula
  • Magic bullet or Grinder
  • Nylon, Cheesecloth, Coffee filter and/or Strainer
  • Container for final product
  • Lecithin (great addative for when you make edibles – this can be added later)

Instructions

GRIND up pot. You can use a grinder but to create a fine powder with ease I like to use the Magic bullet.

COMBINE in crock-pot 2 cups of coconut oil with 1 ounce of marijuana that has decarbed.

HEAT on low for 8 hours.

STRAIN oil into container. An easy way of filtering is using a coffee filter and strainer and over a large bowl. I find the easiest way is securing nylon around jar with a rubber band. Do not squeeze the nylon/cheesecloth this will simple add more chlorophyll to your oil.

**Can store up to 2 months in the fridge and up to 6 months in the freezer.

Questions you might be asking yourself:

Will it smell up my house?
Yes. Decarboxylation and cooking cannabis in the crock-pot are smelly endeavors. I had opened the windows to air out my house but there are also many great products out there that will help eliminate the odors like Nova Decarboxylator and making your oil in a Magical Butter MB2.

What is Lecithin?
When added to cannabis coconut oil, lecithin increases absorption of THC and other Cannabinoids into your cell membranes and speeds up the process. It doesn’t technically make your oil “more potent” but it’ll make your oil more effective. The effects will come on faster and will feel stronger.

If I don’t have lecithin now, can I make the coconut oil now, and add it later?
Yes. If you’re chomping at the bit to make edibles but don’t have this ingredient on hand, make your oil now and then reheat it and stir your lecithin in.
