“I want people to know how to heal themselves”
– Rick Simpson
- One ounce of high-quality medical cannabis or 2 to 3 ounces of trim. You can also throw in small stems and fan leaves for good measure. A sleepy heavy indica is recommended.
- Choose a solvent to use: 99% Isopropyl Alcohol, Diethyl Ether, Naphtha, Acetone, or Benzine is considered to be the most effective.
- 2 Large plastic bucket or glass bowls for mixing and straining
- Cheesecloth or clean nylon stocking
- Large wooden spoon
- 2-quart mixing cup or container (to catch final filtered liquid – size will vary on amount being made)
- Coffee filter, funnel and/or mesh strainer
- Double boiler or rice cooker
- Fans or ventilation (do not do this process without a fan or ventilation!)
- Sterile oral syringes
- Cooking thermometer (optional)
Start with one ounce of dried indica. One ounce will typically produce 3-4 grams of oil, although the amount of oil produced per ounce will vary strain to strain. A pound of dried material will yield about two ounces of high quality oil.
Place the completely dry material in a plastic bucket.
Dampen the material with the solvent of your choice. Many solvents can be used. Your solvent should be clear as water and evaporate on your hand within 30-45 seconds leaving no solvent residue on your fingers. If there is an oily residue and it takes 2-3 minutes to evaporate do not use the solvent. Two gallons of solvent is required to extract the THC from one pound, and 500 ml will be enough for an ounce.
Crush the plant material using a clean stick of untreated wood or any other similar device. You can also use your hands and wear gloves if you feel more confortable. Although the material will be damp, it will still be relatively easy to crush up because it is so dry.
Continue to crush the material with the stick, while adding solvent until the plant material is completely covered and soaked. Remain stirring the mixture for about 3 minutes. As you do this, the THC is dissolved off the material into the solvent.
Using a cheesecloth or nylon, strain the solvent-oil mixture from the plant material into another bucket. At this point, you have stripped the material of about 80% of its THC.
Second wash: again add solvent to the mixture and work for another 3 minutes to extract the remaining THC.
Using a cheesecloth or nylon pour this solvent-oil mix into the bucket containing the first mix that was previously poured out.
Discard the second washed plant material or you can do an optional third wash. Wash one and two are for internal conditions and the third wash can be used for skin conditions since it is a weaker extraction.
Pour the solvent-oil mixture through a coffee filter into a clean container.
Boil the solvent off by using a rice cooker. It will boil the solvent off nicely, and will hold over a half gallon of solvent mixture. CAUTION: avoid stove-tops, red-hot elements, sparks, cigarettes and open flames as the fumes are extremely flammable.
Add solvent to rice cooker until it is about 3/4 full and turn on to HIGH heat. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area and set up a fan to allow air to pass over top to carry the solvent fumes away. CAUTION: The solvents are heavier then air. So when they come off the rice cooker they go down and if they fall down below the rice cooker and get up into the vents then you could potentially end up with a fire.
Continue to add mixture to cooker as solvent evaporates until you have added all the solvent to the cooker.
As the level in the rice cooker decreases for the last time, add a few drops of water (about 10 drops of water for a pound of dry material). This will help to release the solvent residue, and protect the oil from too much heat.
When there is about one inch of solvent-water mixture in the rice cooker, put on your oven mitts and pick the unit up and swirl the contents until the solvent has finished boiling off.
When the solvent has been boiled off, turn the cooker to LOW heat. At no point should the oil ever reach over 240 ° F or 120 ° C. The rice cooker process can take anywhere from 3-8 hours.
When there is no more bubbling activity at high heat use your oven mitts on to remove the pot containing the oil from the rice cooker. Gently pour the oil into a stainless steel/glass container or you can prop your cooker on its side to fill
Suck the oil up in a plastic syringe, or in any other container you see fit. A syringe will make the oil easy to dispense. When the oil cools completely it will have the consistency of thick grease.
Dosage: 60 grams is needed for a full treatment. If you don’t have cancer you can do a 60 grams treatment to detox for better health. A beginner’s dose is the size of half a short grain of dry rice.
Put it on your finger. Place in your mouth and scrape off with your teeth. Then take a drink of cold water. The cold water hardens it up more. Then flip it off your teeth with your tongue and swallow it like a pill. There are numerous ways of taking it. If you don’t like the taste place between two slices of bread or banana slices. BE VERY CAREFUL when boiling solvent off, the fumes will be extremely flammable. AVOID smoking, sparks, stove-tops and red-hot heating elements. Set up a fan to blow fumes away from the pot, and set up equipment in a well-ventilated area for the whole process.
